SUMMARY:Kane Area Loggers Safety Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The 52nd Kane Area Loggers and Sawmillers Safety meeting will be held on Thursday\, June 3rd at a new location this year. The outdoor event will be held at The Flying Dove Ranch\, 743 Old Red Mill Dam Rd. in Ridgway. Afternoon SFI course will include Spotted Lanternfly training and Pipeline Safety and Awareness. Evening meal and program begins at 5:30. Sam Lincoln\, professional logger and former Dep. Commissioner with the Vermont Dept of Forestry\, parks & Rec.\, will present on efforts in Vermont that have successfully improved safety while reducing worker’s comp rates. SUMMARY:Chronic Wasting Disease in Cervids
DESCRIPTION:Reservation Form\nA series of lectures with discussion on current forestry topics for foresters and related professionals in Northwestern Pennsylvania and Southwestern New York. \nAndrea Korman\, Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC)\, will present an update on the latest developments of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in cervids (deer family) in Pennsylvania. Deer are known as “keystone” species\, meaning they can affect their environment. Any disease that affects deer will\, in turn\, affect the landscape over time. \nAndrea received her B.S. degree in Biology and Environmental Science at Dickinson College in 2009 and her M.S. in Zoology in 2013 at Oklahoma State University. Andrea has worked in different regions of the country with a variety of wildlife species\, before returning to her home state of Pennsylvania as the CWD Biologist for the PGC. \nReservations are required. Your prompt action with regard to dinner reservations would be appreciated. Please be aware that if you make a reservation and do not attend the meeting\, you still must pay for your meal. No reservations will be accepted after October 8\, 2021.
